THE INTERNET–For the first time in its eight-year history, Ongoing Worlds is hosting a role play game that continued into a second month of operation. Game #4,692, also known as Fun, Fairies, and Fairy Dust, officially clocked in post #18 on August 1st, day 32 after the role play’s original posting. Ongoing Worlds founder David Ball announced the milestone yesterday on the Ongoing Worlds Blog.
“I never thought I’d see the day,” said an overjoyed, but weeping Ball. “I spent 195,342 hours of my time creating Ongoing Worlds so people could role play here without being on other websites, whatever those other websites might be.” After taking a few minutes to regain his composure, he added, “My dream has finally come true.”
Fun, Fairies, and Fairy Dust host and veteran Ongoing Worlds role player Fairy8723 was surprised by all the hoopla. “Wow,” he said. “Now that I think about it, I suppose I’ve never sent more than three posts in any of the 800 or so prior Ongoing Worlds games I was a part of. I’m not trying break any records or anything, but I guess it makes sense.”
Upon hearing the news, Fun, Fairies, and Fairy Dust member Dust9265 called for the game’s immediate cancellation. “No way we can let it become establishment now,” she said. “As a matter of principle, I refuse to follow convention. That’s why I joined Ongoing Worlds to begin with.”
Fun, Fairies, and Fairy Dust’s status remains in question while Fairy8723, Dust9265, and other members of the game continue to discuss the situation. David was still bawling his eyes out as of this morning.
Ok ok very funny, OngoingWorlds does have a lot of games that get abandoned after a short time, but only because it’s so easy to make a game so allows for experimentation. We’ve also had a lot of really cool games that run for years.
It’s fun to be included in an article though. Thanks for thinking of us!
